Sony Ericsson end-users
Sony Ericsson wanted his clients to avoid any dependence on traditional payments for content downloads and searched for a means of payment that would allow to choose a ringtone or a game to one’s taste at a wap-site of the PlayNow™ arena platform, click on “Purchase” and get the desired content.
With usability as a key aspect of its pan-European mobile content service, Netsize offered mPayment, a billing solution that includes Premium SMS, MMS, Mobile and Web billing methods. Premium SMS was chosen as a means of payment, available to users of existing and newer phones alike, on all mobile operator networks in the targeted countries.
After the user has clicked on “Purchase”, the handset sends automatically the SMS that confirms the order. The user is then redirected to the downloading page to receive the desired content. The cost of the content is charged to the user’s mobile phone subscription.
